We were born to leave the ground
And spend our days looking up, not down
We were not made to stay down here
We were born to leave the ground
We were born to fill the air
Eyes can only see so far from here
We were not made to waste our years
We were born to fill the air
Oh yeah, yeah, la, la, la
Da da da..
We were born to sail up high
No better hope for grounded you and I
We were not made to just get by
We were born to fill the sky
We were born to leave the ground
And spend our days looking up, not down
We were not made to waste our years
We were born to leave the ground

About "We Were Born To Leave Ground"
This song was written after taking my first flight with my dad, who had recently received his pilot's license.
It was my first flight in a small aircraft, having only flown in commercial jets before. The experience was
drastically different than flying in a large plane, and very serene. It seemed as if, in a cruel joke against
mankind, this world is trying to keep us down. But we have been so determined to get off the ground that - even
by risking death - we have tried and tried until we found a way. In such a small cockpit, you can see much farther
(and in many more directions) than you can on a commercial airline. Above everything it just seems like this is
where we were meant to be. We were born to leave the ground. Obviously, the song is a metaphor for life in
general.
